Forklift Safety and Training Importance

Forklift safety is a significant concern for warehouse owners, as forklift-related fatalities have been a leading cause of industrial deaths and injuries for nearly 20 years. Per year in the United States, there are over 100 deaths on average. Each year, tens of thousands of people are injured in forklift accidents that could have been avoided with proper forklift training. If a forklift falls over, a pedestrian is struck, the operator is not paying attention, or loads collapse, the most common accident or death occurs. More info explained in the post.

On the loading dock, a very common accident happens when a driver pulls away from the dock while the forklift is still loading. This, and almost all other incidents, should have been avoided. The issue here is obviously communication between the driver and the forklift operator. To ensure the protection of themselves and others, forklift operators must have protocols in place for virtually all of their responsibilities.

Your forklift operators must meet or exceed the specifications of OSHA standard 1910.178, according to OSHA. Operator safety is a concern for Toyota forklift dealers. The forklift training programme can usually be conducted at your place. For more details, contact your nearest Toyota forklift dealer.

Toyota forklifts also have a clever system that helps prevent rollovers and other types of instability accidents. This is referred to as System Active Stability (SAS) (SAS). The probability of lateral and longitudinal tip overs is reduced with this method. It senses when the forklift is becoming unstable and changes the axle accordingly.
